Last year when I joined some schools for Global Read Aloud, I realized that my mentor text collection was lacking in Indigenous picture texts by Indigenous authors. Global Read Aloud introduced me to Julie Flett. I then found these resources to guide me in adding more texts to my collection:

Over the past few weeks, I have spent time reading some titles with students. Spending time in schools as an outsider, I often observe the use of some texts and activities that are not culturally respectful during the Thanksgiving season. I wanted to share some texts to disrupt the current inventory in many schools. Here are the texts I read and added to bookrooms this fall:
