Have You Tried a Six-Word Book Summary? #booklove #SOL20

Conferring these past two weeks has focused on reading plans. Between some schools preparing to pivot to full remote learning and others preparing for Thanksgiving break, readers need a stack of books ready to go. These three books have been a big hit with grades 3-7 readers this fall. If you are looking for a book you won’t be able to put down, give one (or all ) of these a try.

I recently learned about Six-Word Book Summaries. I am a HUGE fan of Six-Word Memoirs so I have been trying six-word book summaries with students. They love it. It is amazing how much you can say and learn in six words. It’s new to me, but today I am going to give it a go and use Six-Word Book Summaries to describe these texts:

It hurt so much it healed.

Trials and tribulations of growing up.

Have you ever tried six-word book summaries? It’s not easy. It pushes you to think, choose, and angle your words to bring out what you think is most important about the book. Did any of these summaries make you want the book? If you have read one of these books, what would be your six-word summary?
