Slice of Life: Allow Me to Introduce Myself #SOL21
I had such fun reading this poem with a few Kindergarten classes this past week.
After we sang, swayed and played with this poem some chose to use it as a scaffold to write their own … Allow Me to Introduce Myself poem. I heard poems about dancers, lego builders, hockey players, big sisters, singers, jumpers, and creation makers to name a few. I decided to give it a go with one group I joined in a breakout room.
Allow Me to Introduce Myself
They call me
the reliable
the shower-upper
the runs-in-any-weather
group motivator.
The keeps us
laughing on the hills.
The dawn breaking
sunrise
racer.
The slow but steady
ten-minute
miler
can run
forever.
The Clarathon
winner
I be.
That’s just a few of the names
they call me.
If you are looking for other books that celebrate names, here are a few I love:
Today I used speech to text & had some help with formatting since I am slicing this month with broken arms.
