Slice of Life: Day 5 - A Morning Surprise #SOL22 #TWTBlog #OLW #poetry
I had a surprise in the mail this morning!
What a lovely way to start my day. I don’t know who sent it. It’s not that I have no idea … it’s that it could be any one of so many people. You see the artwork on this zipper pouch is the cover of the poetry book that is currently consuming me. I find myself sending friends and colleagues a copy of this book or a text message of a poem that I think will speak to them on that day. Poems from this text have found their way into nearly every presentation I give and into so many conversations I am having with young poets in classrooms. I find myself reaching for this text first thing in the morning and curling up with it as I sip my cup of tea at night.
A poem in this text inspired my One Little Word for this year …
Steady
Here is a sneak peek at the first stanza of the poem … if you want more you will have to buy it!
And if my mystery gifter is reading this post … I thank you by sending you Breath of Light (pg. 64).
