It's Monday! Series Hook Readers -- Check Out All the Series in the Virtual Bookroom #IMWAYR #Booklove #bookaday
I have been reading most of the new #kidlit books that are coming in the mail with my virtual #neighborhoodbookaday read-alouds. I also have a Little Free Library in my yard and the kids have been using it a lot since school closed. I started reading series aloud and then putting the other books in the series in the Little Free Library. The kids are recommending books to each other, eagerly awaiting a book to be returned, and increasing the amount they are reading for pleasure. It makes sense. Research has demonstrated that book series hook unengaged readers on reading. Because a series makes it obvious what to read next and it encourages students to make reading a continuous habit – series leave you wanting more. Here are some of the series that have new additions (they are all getting RAVE reviews from the elementary readers in my neighborhood):
I also added LOTS of series to the virtual bookroom in all levels of complexity! From Scaredy Squirrel, to Weird But True, to Bella and Rosie, Pedro, Katie Woo, and Museum Mysteries! Your kids will love falling into these series and so many more. Thanks to Epic, Capstone, Rivet, and Pioneer Valley for making these digital texts available to students for FREE!!
