Keeping it Real - They Need to Move, So Let's Find Books That Encourage It!

Research shows that movement improves concentration, relieves stress, and increases retention. Experience knows our kiddos are going to move one way or another … so why not encourage it?

One small move that makes a BIG impact is planning for them to move in response to our read-aloud. Are we reading books that inspire movement? Are we reading in a space that allows kids to move around safely? Do we move as we read-aloud?

This small move doesn’t add time to your day; it will engage your readers, show our students that readers are active, and be joyous.
