Slice of Life: Day 9 - A Perfect Red Herring #SOL22 #TWTBlog

Ok … Detectives, Investigators, and Sleuths … hold up your case for today.

I watch as books are excitedly raised above each crime solver’s head. Smiles spread across their faces as I tell them to get to work … except for one.

His head is down and he is doing something on the floor.  I head over to see what is going on.  The teacher is heading in the same general direction.  I arrive first and see him precariously looking at his book bin.  His face expressing worry.  His fingers trying to pry their way into the mayhem in search of what he is looking for – what he has been asked to do.  The tension builds with every step I take towards him.  I can almost feel his unease as I approach at the same time as his teacher.  He looks up at us.  I try to keep a straight face as I say,

Looks like we have a mystery on our hands.

A smile begins to emerge …

My book is missing, but I don’t think we have many suspects.

Our eyes lock and we all immediately break out into laughter.  This reader knows his genre. We may not have needed any clues to solve this mystery, but we did find exactly what we needed at that moment.

Thank you, Betsy, Beth, Deb, Kathleen, Lanny, Melanie, and Stacey for this weekly forum. Check out the writers, readers, and teachers here.
